I’m Valentina, a career coach with nearly 10 years of experience working in higher education. I earned my bachelor’s degree from UNC Charlotte in Psychology and my master’s in College Counseling and Student Development from NC State University.
The Meaning Behind "Avanzando": I chose the name Avanzando because it translates from Spanish to mean "moving forward." This name is a reflection of my Hispanic heritage and my professional purpose. My goal is to be the catalyst that helps you keep your momentum, breaking through the barriers that hold you back so you can step confidently into your next chapter.
My Journey & Passion: As a first-generation, Hispanic college student, I know firsthand how overwhelming it can feel to navigate college and career decisions without a roadmap. That’s why I’m passionate about creating a supportive space for individuals who are discovering their own path.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with students at every stage of their journey—from high schoolers exploring career paths to college students preparing to launch into the professional world. I specialize in working with first-generation students who are navigating unknown territory, and I’m dedicated to ensuring they feel seen, capable, and inspired.
My Coaching Style: My approach is motivational, warm, and structured. I meet my clients where they are and help them move forward with purpose, whether that means clarifying goals, building confidence, or taking the next big step toward their future.
